We continue to wait for more of the white stuff...Old Man winter seems to be taking a back seat to Mother Nature this year....still not enough snow to open the trails.
With some winter conditions around, many people are asking "When will the trail open?" - its based on quite a few factors, the primary of which is safety. Members of the executive, must first audit the trail system, ensuring that the sign guidelines are adhered to, alter any that don't, and replace any signs that have gone "missing". The land conditions, amount of snow, amount of frost(or lack of it), and readiness of the trail is assessed, and the ultimate statement of being open is up to our grooming group from Central Grooming, from the Golden Triangle Snowmobile Association. Once Central Grooming is happy with the condition of the trail system (not just our own), the status is updated on the OFSC web site (http://www.ofsc.on.ca).
Please respect our landowners, and stay off the trails if they are marked closed by signs, or on the web-site - this is a critical time for the trail base to set up and how much or little damage it receives will be reflected for the rest of the season.
Thanks for your co-operation, understanding, and assistance in preserving our great trail system.
